Begin your day with a pickup from your downtown Beijing hotel or Beijing Capital Airport Terminal 2 or 3. Travel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to the Temple of Heaven, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn about its history, unique circular-square symbolism, and royal sacrificial traditions from your guide. Enjoy plenty of time to walk, take photographs, and soak up the peaceful atmosphere. Next, head to Tiananmen Square, the largest city-center square on Earth. As you walk around, your guide will introduce its historical background and point out key landmarks, such as Tiananmen Gate Tower, the Monument to the People’s Heroes, the Great Hall of the People, and the National Museum of China. Continue to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, known for its thick forest cover, well-restored watchtowers, and generally fewer crowds compared with other Great Wall sections. Enjoy a freshly-prepared Chinese lunch at a clean local restaurant near the scenic zone, refueling you before your Great Wall hike. Spend 2 hours wandering the ancient wall. Your guide will explain its former military functions and historical stories. Climb watchtowers, admire rolling mountain scenery, and take wonderful photos. You are free to hike up and down by foot or buy cable car or slide tickets if you wish. Finally, begin your comfortable drive back to central Beijing.
