Beijing's nightlife is hard to crack from the outside. Behind the malls and unmarked entrances is a world most visitors never find — independent cocktail bars, creative spaces, and late-night spots where locals actually go. You've heard Sanlitun is the place. You've also heard it's a minefield of overpriced tourist bars and club promoters. Both are true. The trick is knowing which doors to walk through.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE
This is not a late night rave clubbing session. Over 2-2.5 hours, we move through three independent speakeasy venues — each with a different atmosphere, crowd, and drink speciality.
**Bar 1 — The warm-up.** A relaxed speakeasy cocktail lounge. First drinks, introductions, and the story of how this neighbourhood went from farmland three miles outside the old city walls.
**Bar 2 — The discovery.** Different space, different energy. Craft cocktails with Chinese ingredients — Sichuan pepper, osmanthus, baijiu.
**Bar 3 — The handoff.** The liveliest stop. By now you've got friends, you've got your bearings, and your guide gives you the insider list — where to go next, what to avoid, and which clubs are worth it tonight.
Every evening is different depending on venue energy, group chemistry, and what's happening in the neighbourhood.
