Description

We start at 8 o’clock. After about 2 hours of driving, we arrive at Xizhazi Village in Huairou County. Then, we walk through a forest and head west along the wall. This section of the wall is rarely visited by tourists. During September and October, a few Chinese hiking enthusiasts come here, but for the rest of the year, it is almost entirely deserted. This part of the wall is famous for its steepness: – One section is called “Cà Biān Guò” (擦边过), meaning the wall is so narrow that only one person can pass at a time. – Another section, “Sān Shí Bā Děng” (三十八蹬), has a 60–70-degree stairs. We will end our hike at the “Sky Stairs”**, which takes about 4–5 hours** to reach on foot.
