Our tour is led by seasoned English-speaking guides with more than 15 years of working experience, and we provide two flexible packages for you to pick from. You may choose to meet your guide directly at the East Gate of the Temple of Heaven and arrange your own round trip, or opt for the premium package that covers full round-trip hotel pick-up and drop-off service.
After meeting your professional guide, you will head towards the Temple of Heaven, which serves as the largest ancient imperial sacrificial altar in China and was specially constructed for emperors in the Ming and Qing dynasties to worship heaven and pray for abundant harvests.
You will then follow your guide to learn about the profound history of this time-honored landmark, starting your sightseeing journey from the iconic Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests. Later you will walk south along Danbi Bridge to reach the southern area of the Temple of Heaven, where you will visit the Imperial Vault of Heaven and get to experience the magical Echo Wall under your guide’s introduction.
Moving forward, you will explore the Circular Mound Altar and hear vivid stories behind the Heart of Heaven Stone, so you can even imitate ancient emperors to have a spiritual dialogue with heaven right here.
Before the tour comes to an end, you will also pay a visit to the Palace of Abstinence, a serene retreat where ancient emperors lived in seclusion and observed fasting rituals to purify themselves ahead of grand sacrificial ceremonies, and you can also discover its distinctive architectural features and related royal customs here.
