Description
Step into the real Beijing—where imperial grandeur meets local life. This carefully curated tour takes you through China's most iconic palace complex and its best-preserved princely residence, then lets you choose your own adventure into the city's ancient alleyways. Whether you want to ride through the hutongs by rickshaw, be welcomed into a family's courtyard home, or focus solely on imperial treasures, this is your chance to experience Beijing's fascinating layers of history and culture.
Your day begins with two stunning imperial sites:
First, enter the Forbidden City, home to Chinese emperors for nearly 500 years. Walk through grand ceremonial halls and peaceful courtyards while your expert English-speaking guide shares stories of imperial power, intrigue, and daily life.
Next, visit the elegant Prince Gong’s Mansion, one of Beijing’s best-preserved royal residences. Explore its exquisite gardens, ornate reception halls, and learn about the life of Prince Gong—a key figure in late Qing dynasty politics.
Then, personalize your experience with one of these add-ons:
· Hutong Rickshaw Ride: Climb into a traditional rickshaw for a guided ride through the narrow alleyways of old Beijing. See traditional courtyard homes, local markets, and witness daily life that has continued for centuries.
· Courtyard Family Visit: Experience genuine Beijing hospitality with a visit to a local family’s traditional courtyard home. Sip tea, learn about hutong life, and enjoy a personal cultural exchange.
· Treasure Gallery Access: Deepen your Forbidden City visit with entry to the exclusive Treasure Gallery. Admire its stunning collection of imperial jade, gold, and artifacts at your own pace (self-guided visit).
· Private Tour Option: Book this tour exclusively for your family or group. Enjoy a personalized itinerary, flexible pacing, and dedicated attention from your private guide.
· Prince Gong’s Mansion Focus: Prefer a shorter tour? Conclude your experience after visiting the two main imperial sites.
