Description
Begin your day with a pickup from your hotel in Beijing. Head to the Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall, a hidden gem among Beijing’s Great Wall sections. Unlike the crowded sections, Huanghuacheng retains its original charm with minimal commercialization, allowing you to fully appreciate the grandeur of the Great Wall as it meanders along the shores of Huanghuacheng Reservoir.
Climb the ancient battlements with your guide, who will share fascinating stories about the wall’s history, and enjoy plenty of free time to capture photos of the breathtaking lake and mountain views.
After exploring the Great Wall, proceed to Lama Temple, formerly an imperial palace and now one of China’s most important Tibetan-Buddhist temples. With a history dating back to the Qing Dynasty, the temple features exquisite architecture, intricate carvings, and sacred relics.
Your guide will lead you through the temple’s halls, providing in-depth explanations of its cultural and religious significance, helping you understand the traditions and beliefs behind this spiritual site.
Following the temple visit, travel to the Houhai area, the heart of old Beijing’s hutong culture. Wander through Yandai Xiejie, a historic street lined with traditional courtyard houses, boutique shops, and tea houses, before heading to the Houhai lakeside.
As you stroll along the water’s edge, enjoy panoramic views of the iconic Drum Tower in the distance, with the serene lake reflecting the surrounding architecture—perfect for soaking up the laid-back atmosphere.
Next, embark on a 20-minute rickshaw ride through the narrow hutongs around Houhai. This classic mode of transport lets you navigate hidden alleys inaccessible to cars, giving you a unique perspective on local life and the preserved traditional architecture.
Your rickshaw puller will take you past ancient courtyards and quiet lanes, while your guide shares stories about hutong history and culture. After the rickshaw adventure, the tour concludes, and your driver will safely transfer you back to your downtown Beijing hotel.
