Description

Begin your day in Beijing with an early morning visit to Tiananmen Square. Arrive by metro and make your way through the east security checkpoint. Watch the flag-raising ceremony and take in the atmosphere of the square. Afterward, explore the National Museum of China, located on the east side of the square. Next, head to the Forbidden City, entering through the Meridian Gate. Follow the central axis route, passing through the Hall of Supreme Harmony, Hall of Central Harmony, Hall of Preserving Harmony, Palace of Heavenly Purity, Hall of Union, Palace of Earthly Tranquility, and the Imperial Garden. Exit through the Gate of Divine Prowess. For lunch, enjoy a meal of Beijing specialties like zhajiangmian (noodles with soybean paste), lu zhu (braised pork), or baozi (steamed buns) at a local restaurant near the Forbidden City. After lunch, visit Jingshan Park, where you can climb to the top of Wanchun Pavilion for a panoramic view of the Forbidden City. In the afternoon, take a leisurely walk along Shichahai Lake, stopping at Yinding Bridge for a photo opportunity. Explore Yandaixie Street, known for its traditional Beijing snacks and souvenirs, and wander through the hutongs of Nanluoguxiang, sampling local treats like donkey roll, aiwowo, and baodu. End your day with a choice of two options: either visit the Bell and Drum Towers to see the city lights or take a taxi to Qianmen Street or Dashilan to enjoy a traditional Peking duck dinner.
