Begin your day with a visit to Tiananmen Square for the flag-raising ceremony during time 6-7am Arrive early to pass through security and find a spot. Watch as the PLA Honor Guard raises the flag, accompanied by a live military band. The ceremony lasts about 2 minutes and 7 seconds, the duration of the national anthem. After the ceremony, walk to Maridian Gate located directly north of the Forbidden the highest point in central Beijing, for a panoramic view of the Forbidden City bathed in morning light, you must be first guests visit Forbidden city after Sunrise In winter, you may see the flag-raising first, then walk 10 minutes north to Jingshan to catch the sunrise glow over the palace as the sky brightens. If you wish, enter the Forbidden City when it opens at 8:30 AM. Book your tickets in advance, as same-day tickets often sell out.
