Package 1: Transfer-Only with Pre-Booked Tickets (Self-Guided Exploration)
Your dedicated driver will meet you at your Beijing hotel lobby at your chosen time and transport you directly to the destination (approximately 2 hours’ drive). We will provide you with a QR code ticket that covers both Gubei Water Town entrance and round-trip Simatai Great Wall cable car access—no need to queue for tickets on-site.
Once you arrive, you have full freedom to explore at your own pace: ride the cable car up to Simatai Great Wall to wander its ancient ramparts and take in sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and valley. When your self-guided tour concludes, the driver will be waiting to take you back to your Beijing hotel.
Note: This package includes driver service, round-trip transfers, entrance fees for Gubei Water Town, and round-trip cable car for Simatai Great Wall—food and personal expenses are not covered.
Package 2: Guided Tour (Day or Night Option)
Your knowledgeable local guide will meet you at your hotel lobby, alongside your private driver. The guide will share preliminary stories about Simatai Great Wall’s military history and Gubei Water Town’s cultural heritage during the 2-hour drive, setting the scene for your adventure.
Upon arrival, walk to the mountain foot, then board the cable car to the Great Wall’s upper sections. Your guide will lead you along the 10 open watchtowers, pointing out hidden architectural details and recounting legendary stories of ancient soldiers who guarded this strategic pass.
After descending via cable car, you’ll stroll through Gubei Water Town—a charming replica of southern China’s Wuzhen Water Town, with a northern Chinese twist. The guide will take you to key spots like the Old Barracks Area (with relics of Ming Dynasty garrisons), Minguo Street Area (lined with retro-style shops), and Water Street Area. You’ll have time to taste local delicacies (at your own cost), browse for traditional Chinese souvenirs (silk scarves, hand-carved wood crafts), and capture photos of the town’s tranquil bridges and whitewashed houses.
Once your exploration of the town is complete, the driver will take you back to your Beijing hotel, wrapping up your day of historical discovery and scenic charm.
For those choosing the night option, we will arrange an afternoon departure so you can first watch the sunset from Simatai Great Wall (only two sections of the wall are open to visitors after dark). As dusk falls, you’ll descend to Gubei Water Town just as thousands of red lanterns light up along the canals and rooftops, casting shimmering reflections on the water and immersing you in a scene straight out of a traditional Chinese painting—you can wander the lantern-lit lanes, try nighttime street snacks, or visit a local teahouse before heading back to Beijing with unforgettable twilight and night views.
