Description

Begin your journey with a hotel pickup in downtown Beijing. Head to the Zizhuyuan Pier (Purple Bamboo Park) and board a boat for a leisurely cruise along the Royal Waterway (Kunyu River). This tranquil route, over 700 years old, winds through willow-lined banks and stone bridges, revealing a slower, more poetic side of the capital. As your boat glides northward, your guide will share stories about Empress Dowager Cixi, who often took this same journey by dragon boat to escape the summer heat. Along the way, pass through the Beijing Zoo section, Yuyuantan Park, and other scenic spots rarely seen by tourists. Upon reaching the Summer Palace’s South Gate, step ashore and continue your exploration on foot. Stroll through the Long Corridor, admire the Marble Boat, and climb Longevity Hill for sweeping lake views. For those seeking an extra cultural touch, enjoy an optional royal tea ceremony or lunch at a lakeside pavilion before returning to the city by car.
