There’s no more efficient way to get around Beijing city by metro. Today, you will learn how to take metro to different attractions in downtown Beijing. After this family friendly private tour, you will know the public transportation service of Beijing City inside out.
Meet your tour guide in your Beijing downtown hotel lobby, you'll head to attractions by taking the metro. Your guide will give an explanation of the Beijing Metro System, as well as the city’s vast public transport network. After the tour, you can choose to explore the city on your own or your tour guide will tell you how to travel back to your hotel on your own.
Option 1: Pandas in Beijing Zoo and Summer Palace (5-6 Hours)
Follow your tour guide to watch some of the cute pandas at the Beijing Panda House inside Beijing Zoo and get to know its habit and story. You will spend about 30 minutes here.
Continue your tour to the Summer Palace by taking the next metro line. Along the way, your knowledgeable guide is on hand to provide expert insight and interesting historical anecdotes. Feel free to ask questions if you have.
Upon arrival, you will stroll through different courtyards and halls, listen to the detailed stories about Express Empress Dowager Cixi, get to know how did she controlled the country by put the little emperor on the throne. You will spend about 2 hours at the Summer Palace to explore the most important buildings.
Option 2: Temple of Heaven and Summer Palace (5-6 Hours)
Your tour will start from the Temple of Heaven which is China's largest and most representative existing masterpiece among China’s ancient sacrificial buildings. It is so much fun in the morning as you can see many local retired folks doing exercises here. Meanwhile, you will get to know all the detailed stories and histories about this temple from your tour guide.
Continue your tour to the Summer Palace by taking the next metro line. Spend about 2 hours to explore the most important buildings at the Summer Palace.
Option 3: Temple of Heaven and Lama Temple ( 4 hours)
Your tour will start from the Lama Temple, the former residence of Emperor Yongzheng before his ascent to the throne, admire the huge wood-carved 'Maidala Buddha' in the Ten-Thousand-Buddha Pavilion (Wanfoge). Hear how the statue was carved out of a single tree imported from Tibet and learn why it made it into the 1993 Guiness Book of World Records.
Continue to the Temple of Heaven. Spend about 1.5 hours to visit most important buildings, afterwards you can choose to explore Pearl market next door.
Option 4: Summer Palace, Houhai Lake and Hutong Allays (4-5 Hours)
Start your tour from the Summer Palace, afterwards take subway to the Houhai Lake.
Climb up to the Drum Tower to watch the Drum performance and enjoy an impressive view over Hutong. Next, stroll along the Hutong allays, get to know its history, architecture and the life in Hutong. Explore Nanluoguxiang allay, Houhai Lake and Yandaixie Street at your own pace.
