Description
The National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing is located in the city center and designed by French architect Paul Andreu. Its elliptical exterior, covered with a titanium shell, rests on an artificial lake that reflects its distinctive shape.
The building’s modern architecture features a curved glass design that maximizes natural light and creates dynamic reflections of the surroundings. The NCPA includes three main performance venues:
- Opera House: Seats over 2,000, one of China’s largest opera venues
- Concert Hall: Accommodates more than 1,200, used for symphonic and musical performances
- Theatre: Around 1,000 seats, hosts drama and dance shows
