First Stop: Qianmen Street – Time-Honored Brands & National Trends Qianmen Street (600-year commercial heritage on the Axis): Blends time-honored brands (Nei Liansheng – 3-story cloth shoes museum; Red Star Erguotou – 'front shop, back workshop' with liquor tasting) and national trends (Zhu Bingren Art Museum – handmade bronze zodiac paintings; Beijing Fan Shop – custom silk fans). Afternoon: Try Quanjude’s Beijing-style tea or Changchuntang’s herbal drinks. Second Stop: Qianmen Park – A Quiet Hideaway Qianmen Park (city oasis along the Axis): Lush greenery, winding paths, locals chatting/playing chess. Overlook Zhengyangmen (north) and Qianmen Street (south) – a calm transition from bustle. Third Stop: Zhengyangmen – 'National Gate' of Beijing Zhengyangmen ('top of Beijing’s nine gates'): Built in Ming Dynasty (once Yuan’s Lizhengmen), Beijing’s only well-preserved ancient gate. It has a 43.65m tower (folk exhibits) and an arrow tower (94 archways, ancient defense model). Front six-pillar, five-bay archway is a highlight. 1988 National Key Cultural Relic, core of the Axis’ World Heritage bid. Fourth Stop: Tiananmen Square – Patriotic Landmark Tiananmen Square (Axis’ core, national spiritual landmark): Solemn and vast. Central Monument to the People’s Heroes (reliefs of modern struggles); east National Museum (cultural treasures); west Great Hall of the People (national events). Admire Tiananmen Gate’s red walls and yellow tiles. Fifth Stop: The Palace Museum – Forbidden City’s Dynasty Echoes Palace Museum (Forbidden City): Saw 24 emperors, world’s largest preserved ancient wooden complex. Along the Axis: Grand 'Three Front Palaces' (throne for court ceremonies) and 'Three Back Palaces' (imperial life traces). East Treasure House (royal jewels); west Clock House (working century-old clocks). Red walls and yellow tiles tell Ming-Qing glory. Sixth Stop: Jingshan Park – Axis’ 'Commanding Heights' Jingshan Park (once Ming-Qing imperial gardens): Exit Forbidden City’s Shenwu Gate to reach. Wanchun Pavilion (Axis’ highest point) – south: Forbidden City’s red tiles + Axis to Bell and Drum Tower; north: modern skyscrapers blend with ancient scenery. Five peaks with pavilions: spring peonies, autumn vibrant forests. End of Tour: Disband at Nanluoguxiang Metro Station Walk from Jingshan’s west gate to Nanluoguxiang Metro Station. Explore hutongs if time – gray-brick courtyards mix with trendy shops. The tour shows time-honored craftsmanship, royal grandeur, and the Axis’ 'living heritage' charm.
