It is a 7.8-kilometer-long axial line that runs through the old city of Beijing, starting from the Bell and Drum Towers in the north and extending southward through the Wanning Bridge, the Jingshan Hill and the Imperial Palace down to the Yongdingmen Gate at the south end. It is an ensemble of city historical architectures that comprises imperial buildings from ancient China.
