Description

Discover the Temple of Heaven, a sacred site for imperial worship during the Ming and Qing dynasties and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This joint ticket grants access to the park’s core attractions, including the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, Echo Wall, and Round Hill Altar.

Begin your visit at the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, the temple’s landmark structure. Its three-tiered round spires and blue glazed tiles symbolize heaven. The hall is constructed entirely using wooden mortise and tenon joints, an example of advanced ancient architectural techniques.

Proceed to the Echo Wall, an acoustic phenomenon where sounds travel clearly around the circular wall. Whisper from one side of the east and west halls and hear it distinctly on the opposite side. Step onto the three-tone stone to experience triple echoes when clapping.

End your tour at the Round Hill Altar, the site of the Winter Solstice Sacrificial Ceremony. It features three levels of circular white marble platforms, with all stone slabs and balustrades in multiples of nine. Stand on the central Tianxin Stone and speak aloud to experience the concept of “heavenly and human resonance.”
