Begin your journey at the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall, a 4A-level urban planning museum covering 16,000 m² across four floors. Discover a 1:750 scale model of Beijing, showcasing every street and landmark. Explore the history of Beijing, from ancient capitals to a modern metropolis, with photos, artifacts, and multimedia shows. Learn about future visions for the city, including plans for greening, transportation, and infrastructure, with a focus on Olympic venues and new urban districts. Engage with interactive exhibits, including 3D films and touchscreens (English available on request), that bring Beijing’s evolution to life. Next, head to the Forbidden City, the imperial heart of China. Built between 1406 and 1420 during the Ming Dynasty, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is the world’s largest preserved wooden palace complex. Explore the 720,000 m² complex with 9,999.5 rooms, 10m-high walls, and a 52m-wide moat. Walk along the central axis, the core of imperial power, with two main sections: the Outer Court, featuring the Hall of Supreme Harmony (Taihe Dian, China’s largest wooden hall), Hall of Central Harmony, and Hall of Preserving Harmony; and the Inner Court, home to the Emperor’s and Empress’s quarters, including the Palace of Heavenly Purity, Hall of Union, and Palace of Earthly Tranquility. Admire the iconic red walls and yellow glazed tiles (imperial colors), intricate wood carvings, and symmetrical design reflecting ancient Chinese cosmology.
