Begin your tour of the Forbidden City by entering through the Gate of Supreme Harmony. Marvel at its solemn and majestic double-eaved structure, which served as a ceremonial gateway for the Ming and Qing emperors to listen to politics and gather officials, showcasing the grandeur of the court.
Next, visit the Hall of Supreme Harmony, commonly known as the Golden Luang Hall. Admire the luxurious and exquisite White Marble platform on the third floor, which was specially used for the emperor's accession to the throne, wedding, grand ceremony, and other national ceremonies.
Continue to the Hall of Preserving Harmony, located in the center. See its intricate shape and learn how it served as a transitional hall for etiquette. Before the emperor's grand ceremony, it was an essential venue for resting, organizing ceremonies, and reviewing sacrificial documents.
Cross the Gate of Heavenly Purity, the boundary between the inner and outer courts. During the Qing Dynasty, emperors often held political discussions here. Crossing this gate, the atmosphere shifts from the solemn former court to the tranquil royal inner court.
Arrive at the Palace of Heavenly Purity, the core of the inner court, which was once the residence and administrative center of the Ming and Qing emperors.
