Day 1: Beijing City Highlights
Start your journey with a pickup from your downtown Beijing hotel lobby, then head to Tian’anmen Square to explore with your guide. Admire the landmark buildings around the square and learning about their historical significance.
Next, enter the Forbidden City via the grand Meridian Gate. As China’s political and ritual center for over 500 years, this imperial palace was home to 24 Ming and Qing emperors. Spend 2 hours exploring the Forbidden City’s central axis highlights—three grand halls that served as the heart of imperial ceremonies and royal banquets. Wander through the Inner Court to discover the daily lives of emperors and empresses, then stroll through the serene Imperial Garden. Your guide will share fascinating stories about Chinese history and architecture—feel free to ask questions anytime.
After exiting the Forbidden City, savor a classic Peking Duck lunch at a local restaurant. As a symbol of Beijing’s culinary heritage, this dish is an unmissable experience for every visitor.
Continue to the Temple of Heaven, where you’ll explore key structures like the magnificent Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests. Walk along the Echo Wall to experience its remarkable acoustic effect, then stand on the Heavenly Heart Stone at the Circular Mound Altar—where emperors once prayed to heaven—to feel the same sense of reverence .
Your next stops is Houhai area. Take a leisurely walk through nearby ancient hutongs.
The day ends with a drop-off back at your hotel.
Day 2: Great Wall & Summer Palace Adventure
The Great Wall is a must-see when visiting China, and you can customize your experience by choosing either Badaling or Mutianyu section. After pickup in the morning, enjoy a 1.5-hour drive to the Great Wall, with your guide sharing interesting historical facts along the way.
Upon arrival, take the included cable car/ski lift to the wall. Explore various beacon towers with your guide to uncover stories behind this world-famous structure, then enjoy free time to wander, take photos, and soak in the panoramic views. For Mutianyu visitors, you can opt for the thrilling toboggan ride down the mountain instead of the ski lift for a memorable descent.
After lunch, travel to the Summer Palace, one of China’s most beautiful imperial gardens. Explore its highlights, the iconic Long Corridor and the marble boat. Your guide will reveal the history of the palace, as well as Cixi’s life, role, and influence in late Qing Dynasty politics.
